Kamena Vourla: The Warm Embrace of Fthiotida Awaits You!

Just 180 km from Athens and 40 km from Lamia, in the heart of the Fthiotida region, lie the wonderful Kamena Vourla. It's the largest and most comprehensive resort, not only in Fthiotida but in all of Central Greece! Nestled at the southeastern tip of the Maliakos Gulf and a very short distance of just a few nautical miles from Evia, it offers an ideal blend of relaxation and exploration.

Built in the area of ancient Thronion of the Lokrians, along the beach formed by two small coves and beneath the verdant and rocky Mount Knimis, which rises just 300 meters from the sea, Kamena Vourla is a breathtaking sight. The sea of Kamena Vourla is not particularly deep, with the greatest recorded depth being 40-45 meters. The waters of the Maliakos Gulf are generally clear and calm, while the seabed is initially covered with seaweed and then with fine sand. The coasts are covered with small stones and pebbles, making the beaches ideal for swimming.
Mount Knimis and the Lichades: Myths and Beauties

Mount Knimis is lush green, primarily covered with pine and beech trees and wild shrubs, rising to 700 meters around Kamena Vourla. It's rocky with steep slopes, making it ideal for hiking or rappelling in many areas. The view is spectacular from any point on the mountain, as the town of Kamena Vourla, the entire Maliakos Gulf, and a part of beautiful Evia stretch out before you.

Looking out at the sea, you'll notice some small island formations. These are the islands of Lichades and Strongyli, also known as Lichadonisia, just 10 nautical miles from Kamena Vourla. Myth has it that Lichas, a giant of mythology, fought with Hercules, son of Zeus, and Hercules defeated him and scattered him in the sea. His body forms the Lichades, and his head is the island of Strongyli. In reality, these are beautiful formations with emerald waters and many small beaches with golden sand—an earthly paradise worth visiting!
