Nestled at the foothills of the majestic Oiti mountain, north of Gravia and just beyond Kastellia, you'll discover the charming village of Apostolias. Built at an altitude of 520 meters, it's just waiting for you to explore!

Apostolias gets its name from the magnificent church of the Holy Apostles that proudly stands in the heart of the village. Every June 30th, the village comes alive with a grand and festive celebration in their honor! The same name also belongs to the torrent that runs just outside the village, which, until 1927, was known as Kato Kaniani.

Up until World War II, the eastern side of Apostolias, extending to the mountain's peak, was home to bauxite mines, employing most of the village's residents. Unfortunately, during the Occupation, the Italians destroyed the facilities, bringing an end to the ore extraction. However, the people of Apostolias didn't give up! They turned to livestock farming and cereal cultivation, adapting and continuing their lives.

At the fountain in Apostolias' square, nestled among the picturesque stone houses and small chapels, you can refresh yourself and feel the tranquility of the place, no matter what time of year you visit.

If you find yourself in the area in early September, don't miss the festival at the chapel of the Nativity of the Theotokos on September 8th. It's a wonderful celebration that unites the residents of Apostolias, Oinochori, and Kastellia in an atmosphere of joy and tradition!
